Are Extroverts or Introverts More Productive

Unfortunately, there is no yes or no answer for this question on extroverts and introverts in relations to productivity, since it is not so black and white and it is entirely contextual.
Some people are fascinated with a personal office or a cubical where no one bothers them while many others prefer to work in a Google like friendly and social environment. The preferences may vary depending on the nature of the work and so may productivity.
Lately, numerous organizations across the globe are choosing to relocate or open a branch of their business in Singapore due to its renewed workplaces. Not only do they attract employers but also employees from around the world to find the perfectly suited workplace for them. Anyone who has attended different offices knows the difference that a workplace may create on productivity.
In order to enhance people's performance, the Singaporean companies have specifically designed offices to provide better work conditions and job satisfaction for their employees.
However, an important question is whether a place with open interaction and exchange of ideas between the employees would serve better or separate cubicles for each and every person? Once again, there is no yes or no answer as both have their own importance.
First of all, it depends on your company.
The corporate sector such as banks, law firms and financial institutions demand places that allow employees to pay attention and focus on their work while industries such as marketing, advertising and other creative ones require brain storming and an exchange of ideas to develop a good one. In such organizations, it is better to have an open and social environment.
In fact, there is not only one kind of work in every industry. And the nature of the work may vary depending on the functions that you are required to perform. There are people who are at the front-end while some continue working in the back end. Some departments may require excessive collaboration while many demand privacy. The workplace needs to be designed in a manner to integrate both.
Besides the industry and the nature of work, an important factor that determines what kind of a workplace may be better involves an individual's personality. Some people prefer to stay aloof while some have the desire to be the center of attention all the time. In most of the cases, the preferred nature of work is reflected by the personality. Introverts do not generally prefer to work in quite social environments.
Jobs that include engineering, designing and technical work require accuracy and precision which are best achieved in an isolated environment.
Therefore, a generalization cannot be made to state whether introverts or extroverts are more productive. One of the reasons for more and more businesses migrating to Singapore each day might be the workplace designs. Over time, the people have also become quite specific in their workplace preferences and demand more from companies. Those days are gone when people used to work like machines, and a positive environment can significantly boost a person's performance and productivity.
For these reasons and the improvement of productivity, it is crucial for companies in Singapore to choose their office carefully, depending on the nature of the industry and the kind of work it involves. It is always better to integrate personal spaces and social environments in the same office as even the most extrovert person may need privacy and a quiet room for some time.
